Nicola Marsilio

Whistle, flutes, uilleann pipe,

musette, viola da gamba


After getting a diploma with full marks at Padua Conservatory, he continued studying  clarinet with masters like K. Leister and A. Pay. Later he learned to play other instruments, such as the viola da gamba ( with N. Shaaps and P . Biondi ), the flute ( with R. Clemencic and S. Balestracci ), the sax ( with F. Paletti ). Then he approached the study of folk instruments : the bombarde, the crumhorn, the French musette, the uilleann pipe, the Irish whistle, the duduk, the kaval, the Turkish clarinet, the dijeridoo and many other ethnic wind instruments.


He co-operated with Padua University, La Fenice in Venice, La Biennale Musica, Arena di Verona, RAI, Smithonian Institute and with artists like T. Riley, Yo Yo Ma, L. Bakalov and the group Calicanto. He has been on tour in Europe, Japan, China and in the USA. He has recorded material for several recording labels.


Currently he plays with il Fondaco dei Suoni, Antiqua Celtica, Venice Orchestra, Collegium Sinphonium Veneto, Orchestra di Fiati di Padova, Coro Città di Te.

Nicola Marsilio plays the whole range of the clarinets, saxophones and flutes.
